The Grand Opening

Welcome to my blog! It took a lot of very small, slow steps to get here, but I finally set up a decent VPS and bought a domain name - so let’s keep on rolling.

I’m a molecular biologist from Russia, postdoc since late 2022 and for now I’m working at Stockholm University in Mattias Mannervik lab where together with my awesome colleagues we’re investigating the developmental epigenetics (and sometimes even cancer) using advanced methods, including single cell multiomics. I also have a personal scientific interest of my own, which is transposable elements (TEs) and I think that insects are the most fascinating organisms to study them in.

I’ve been using R for a long time, so for now the whole content is made with RStudio/Quatro/Shiny. I’ve been putting up my interactive shiny apps to shinyapps.io (my personal favourite is this one), but from now on, I’m going to host them on the backend of the same server that runs this website. You can find the first one here: te-profiles. It’s used to plot distributions of ChIP-seq, CUT&Tag, RNA-seq, and whatnot in bedGraph profiles over TEs.

Why Postdoc Postpunk?

Well, I’m a postdoc and I like postpunk — and honestly, the genre feels like it reflects my life pretty well.

To wrap up this first post, here’s one of my favorite postpunk songs from Echo & the Bunnymen.:

I hope you’ll find something useful in my ramblings and stick around for a while. Hope to see you soon!
